Customer Service Assistant
As a Customer Service Assistant you can choose to work within a variety of brands where you will be responsible for giving exceptional customer service to our customers.

A normal day’s work might involve looking after our customers in a shop or restaurant, handling cash, preparing refreshments and food, keeping the place ship shape or re-stocking shelves and fridges.
Alternatively, you might prefer to be authorising the sale of petrol and other goods on a forecourt, while keeping a watchful eye on things from the public health and safety perspective.
We don’t just want you to provide excellent service. We want you to make sure that our customers and your colleagues are safe and sound at all times. That really is a top priority for us.

Supervisor
With this role comes more exciting responsibilities. You’ll need to have the skills to be able to lead and motive a team, as you’ll be supervising and supporting others. Customer Service Assistants will look up to you for support, so it’s really important that you have great people skills and the ability to think fast on your feet, when they need your help. As well as being a friendly, sociable person, with a really positive attitude, you’ll also need to be a great team player to succeed in this role.
Your training...
•To be a Supervisor, you will first need to successfully complete all of
our Customer Service Assistant training.
•The second stage to your Supervisor training is the completion of the
Supervisor workbook, designed to develop your team leader skills, in
areas such as coaching, supporting and leading a small team.

Assistant Department Manager
To step up to this role, you’ll have previously been a Supervisor with us. We feel that it’s really important that we promote our employees internally to the Assistant Department Manager position, as we believe that you can really succeed by first learning all of the basics as a Customer Service Assistant, and by learning leadership skills as a Supervisor.
You’ll have lots of really important responsibilities. As well as always delivering exceptional customer service you will be running shift, managing the team to deliver key objectives, making sure our customers are happy and on occasion dealing with their feedback and you will also be required to ensure that brand standards are in place at all times.
Your training...
The first part of your Assistant Department Manager training will be checking that you have successfully completed all of the Customer Service Assistant and Supervisor training.
Once this has been done, you can begin to work through the various training elements relevant to the role, including management workshops, operational procedures and compliance based training and complete a series of online learning.

Department Manager
As a Department Manager, you will be totally responsible for one of our big brand high street businesses. As well as being friendly, sociable and having a really positive attitude, you will also need to have strong leadership skills, as you will be managing, leading and motivating the team. We see you as the customer service champion within your unit, constantly on the lookout for new opportunities to increase sales; someone who makes absolutely certain that we engage with our customers in the right way – first time, every time and deliver exceptional customer service.
Your role will include recruitment, interviewing candidates and team appraisals. It will also embrace resource planning to ensure that you meet company forecasts. You must also be capable of dealing with challenges as they arise. And you absolutely must adhere to operational and brand standards and Health & Safety policies. You’ll obviously want each and every member of your team to be as efficient, productive and fulfilled they possibly can be. So you’ll be a keen advocate of training and personal development.

Your training will be delivered through different learning methods, ranging from classroom based training workshops, off site brand training, online courses to on-the-job development covering certain areas working within the brand.
Our workshops look at areas such as compliance, people management and finance and have been designed to teach you relevant information and allow you to practice and experience working in our brands.

Deputy General Manager
Reporting to the Area General Manager, who has overall responsibility for everything that goes on at the site, you’ll be supporting the managers of our big brand retail outlets. You’ll be expected to take full responsibility for the site when the Area General Manager is away.
Your role will be to ensure all these units operate profitably, to strict health and safety guidelines, and that our teams comply with the operational and brand guidelines laid down by Moto and our big brand partners.
You’ll be self-driven (i.e. personally responsible for achieving the development targets set out in Your development programme) and passionate about delivering exceptional service and ensuring that our customers return to us again and again.

You will complete the Deputy General Manager Programme which will cover brand training in all units on site, off site workshops and legislative training.

Area General Manager
You’ll be the leader of the pack in your service area, with overall responsibility for everything that goes on there.
You’ll be expected to hit and exceed challenging financial targets. You’ll also be the kind of person who’s creative when solving problems, can prioritise work under pressure, is a great communicator and has the diplomatic skills required to resolve customer complaints. Over and above that, you’ll need to make certain that each team follows our corporate and operational guidelines. And it goes without saying, almost, that you’ll be passionate about delivering exceptional customer service, and just as eager for your managers and their teams to embrace that same passion.
Reporting directly to the Regional Director, you’ll be expected to develop close ties with the relevant central support functions, such as HR, Finance, Training, Brands and Marketing.
You’ll additionally be responsible for ensuring that the recruitment process meets company standards and driving the over-arching training and contingency strategy for all our retail brands.
On the finance front, you’ll know how to use management information to focus priorities and ensure each unit is running efficiently and profitably. This is one of the most important and challenging roles in our business.

Your development
So what are my prospects?
Whatever you want them to be. You can join us as a temporary, part-time or permanent Customer Services Assistant. Opportunities also come up for Regional Operations Managers and Department Managers. And we do of course need to fill all the usual roles at central support. You don’t have to want to be a high flyer with Moto, although there’s nothing to stop you reaching the boardroom if that’s what you aspire to. Some of our Board colleagues started their careers in the business on the shop floor. And 60% of our senior managers have worked their way up through the ranks.
That says a lot about us as a company. It says that we prefer to promote from within. It says that we recognise people who’re committed to delivering top-notch customer service. And it says that we reward their efforts. We make that same promise to you! Don’t worry. We’ll prepare you for each promotional step and you’ll be supported by management development workshops, along with the appropriate brand-specific and customer relations training. We run regular face to face workshops on various subjects from Leadership to Emergency First Aid at Work to support your ongoing development and also gives you the opportunity to share ideas with others from the Moto family.
Achieve In Moto Programme
The Achieve In Moto programme (AIM) is designed to develop driven Supervisors who want to progress to an Assistant Department Manager role. The programme consists of three 2 day workshops that cover Management skills, Profitable Shift Management and Delivering Exceptional Customer Service, lots of opportunities to put the learning into practice when back on site, attend reviews and complete a presentation on a project to demonstrate learning. All of which will give delegates the skills, knowledge and confidence to move to the next level.
Department Manager Development Programme
The Department Manager Development Programme (DMDP) has been developed to provide guidance and a flexible training plan that focuses on the knowledge of all brands and skill areas required for the transition from a Department Manager role to a Deputy General Manager.

The Deputy General Manager Development Programme (DGMP) has been developed to provide guidance and a training plan that focuses on the knowledge of how to run a site and skill areas required for the transition from a Deputy General Manager role to an Area General Manager.
